Fresh Off the Boat is a comedy series inspired by Eddie Huang's memoir. The story follows the Huang family as they move from Washington, D.C. to suburban Orlando, Florida, in the 1990s.
Louis Huang dreams of building a successful restaurant business, while Jessica focuses on giving her three sons a strong education and preparing them for a successful future. Eddie, meanwhile, is trying to fit in at school while discovering his love for hip-hop and American pop culture.
The series combines family comedy, cultural differences and the challenges of adapting to a new environment, while following the everyday adventures of the Huang family.
